Portomarín is a historic town on the Camino de Santiago. The old Portomarín lies beneath the waters of the river, while the new one rises proudly, having been painstakingly restored, stone by stone, to house some of its most emblematic buildings. This welcoming inland town in the province of Lugo, overlooking the Miño River, is just 25 minutes from the walled city of Lugo and at the gateway to the Ribeira Sacra region.
The Hotel Portomarín STAR is located near the Chapel of Our Lady of the Snows, built into an arch of the old Roman-medieval bridge. Pilgrims and visitors ascend its unique staircase to reach the town, and once at the top, next to the wishing star, they can rest and enjoy the views over the river and its banks.
